How do I know it really works?
The OMH does not re-invent the wheel. Successful handicappers and professionals have always used the DRF, tote board, and official entry information to pick winners. The magic of the OMH is its simplicity, teaching you how to compete with and bet like a Pro! The Betting Situation Worksheet is, to the best of my knowledge, the first of its kind to define and simplify the betting decision. The Proof of The Pudding chapter validates the 22 Betting Situations. Neal DeLeo and Dr. Larry Whalen give testimony! Both are real people who, among many others, have personally witnessed the concept put to the test.
How long does it take to learn how to do handicap profitably?
The length of time will of course vary by individual but will depend on how often, how closely, how consistently and religiously you follow the step by step method. The OMH provides an easy to follow and grasp, step by step guide, on how to read the DRF and how to use the Worksheet, which when followed will show, there are no secrets and there is no mystery. There is no doubt you will acquire the knowledge, gain and build the confidence to become an accomplished handicapper. Learning will take place by following and consistently repeating the step by step method of completing the user friendly Betting Situation Worksheet. Practice makes perfect. Vince Lombardi said, "Perfect Practice Makes Perfect."
If this concept works so well then why isn't everyone using it? How come I've never heard of it before?
The OMH concept is a unique creative concept and the idea was conceived during August of 2004. The Betting Situations Worksheet is an absolutely ground breaking concept. However this question may have been already answered. Successful handicappers and professionals have always used DRF, tote board and official entry information. The majority of race bettors have not taken the time or had the inclination or willingness to learn. The goal of the OMH is to change that attitude. We are not re-inventing the wheel but simply making the tidal wave of ever increasing information (because of technological advances) easier to read and understand. With this understanding a new comer acquires the knowledge and know how to pick winners and seasoned players sharpen their game. Although still in its infancy, the OMH has already been featured in the Product Spotlight of the prestigious Thoroughbred Times on January 27, 2007.
Will this work for picking exotic bets like exactas and trifectas?
This is not a self serving answer. The OMH concept is also designed to simply the decision making process for exotic wagers by separating "pretenders" from "contenders." Often, a hard to ignore favorite is an absolute "stickout," but not a "value play." The OMH makes it easier to dramatically increase "value" by spotting all the logical "longshot" contenders. Kitten's Joy was the logical "odds on" (less than even money) favorite prior to the running of the 2006 Arlington Million with 9 wins and 3 seconds in his last 12 starts. He was impossible to ignore and difficult to bet against! He was in the eyes of many professionals not a "value bet." The chapter First Time Lasix 2nd or Later Start shows how the Betting Situation concept uncovered 5 key Betting Situations for Powerscourt, and led the author to a $281.40 trifecta by using Kitten's Joy with Powerscourt.
What is the difference between so called "systems" and the Betting Situation concept?
"Systems" are usually the byproduct of complicated "speed ratings," "value lines," "track biases," and a myriad of other computer based handicapping information, customarily sold on a daily basis. The OMH is based on a simple concept offering a comprehensive, in-depth guide using current existing information in combination with a Betting Situation Worksheet to simplify the handicapping and decision making process. The OMH is a one time purchase.
Everyone knows that gamblers can't beat "the house." What makes the OMH different?
The unique feature and benefit of betting on horse racing is you are not betting against "the house," you are betting against each others. The race track acts as a go between charging a percentage of the total wagers for their service. Professionals salivate on big event days like The Kentucky Derby and The Breeders Cup with huge amounts of money bet by tourists, amateurs and uniformed casual bettors, who are ill prepared and typically make un-educated betting choices and decisions. The OMH concept shows how to make a day at the races more fun and exciting by winning. The author loves betting against tourists and uniformed casual bettors at Gulfstream and Saratoga.
Do you offer seminars or classes?
Once again the OMH is in its infancy. Race Tracks and Simulcast Centers are anxious to offer seminars. Both realize informed bettors make the best clients. We will work diligently to be included where offered.
Is the book hard cover or soft cover?
Because this book is written as a "guide" to learn from it was specifically printed with a special "lay flat" binder to make reading and studying easier. The lay flay binding serves the purpose of being able to flatten the book out no matter which part of the book you are reading, beginning, middle, or end. This special binding cost more but, at 384 pages and almost two inches thick, the advantages far outweigh the extra cost. Reading and using this guide is far easier than it would otherwise have been. I understand this is something most people don't think about but you'll definitely appreciate this added feature when you begin using the One Minute Handicapper.
I don't doubt you are able to use the Betting Situations concept to pick winners, but will I be able to do the same?
One of the many unique features of the OMH concept is that it is an easily transferable idea built on using existing, easily accessible, information from the Daily Racing Form, tote board, and official entries. The Guide is designed to use, in non-racing term language, a step by step, easy to follow method, enabling you to acquire the necessary knowledge to consistently be a winner. Knowledge is power! Learning how to handicap profitably is an acquirable skill. Once learned it is simply a matter of consistently using the user friendly 22 Betting Situation Worksheet checklist to record each Situation for every horse. Bear in mind a Betting Situation is not apparent in every race, but will "jump right off the page" when one does exist. The completed Worksheet in the Neal DeLeo and First Flash Chapter is a great example. Character Actor was begging to be bet!
I've never bet on horses before and know virtually nothing about them. Will I be able to learn how to do this?
The OMH is both an introductory, basic 101 guide for new comers and novice handicappers and an in-depth guide to help seasoned bettors sharpen their skills. The simple easy to read and understand guide teaches a newcomer race track language, how to read the DRF, how to spot tote board and official entry "plays," how to use the Worksheet and how to make informed betting decisions. The OMH program is a great teaching and learning tool since the concept is transferable. All clients will also be provided a special toll free number to call with questions or concerns. We believe this is also a unique, one of a kind offer.
There is no race track near where I live. Can I still do this?
Absolutely! There are several highly advertised venues for live televised races and internet broadcasts as well as reputable companies offering telephone betting accounts. The OMH Website has links providing access to reliable, reputable companies. Thoroughbred racing is fun, exciting, interesting and potentially profitable for the educated, informed and prepared bettor, as long as, in the words of Dan Chen, "You bet with your head and not over it."
If I have a question about something in your book, can I e-mail you and get an answer?
We are anxious to hear from you. The OMH web site provides a user friendly way to contact us. All messages will be responded to as quickly as possible in a courteous, professional manner. We sincerely believe there are no "dumb" questions. We also know and believe word of mouth is our best advertisement. We will also provide our clients with a special toll free number to speak directly with the author, which we believe is also an OMH first. All inquires are welcomed.
